You are interested by the civilisation ancient
Egypt, you intend to travel in the Pharaons country, but you hate conducted tours, then this site is for you! We provide a number of practical information to make your future "individual" stay most pleasant. you will really enjoy !!

Because we love this place, because we have been staying there several times since ten years, because we built bonds of friendship with Egyptians as time passed, we have decided to share our experience with those wanting to come to Egypt on their own, at no cost. It is for us a mean to provide support to our Egyptian friends in return of all they always did to make our stays more than pleasant.

Places of interest are on the two sides of the river Nile at Louqsor (please click on the links to see maps) :
- East bank with the city centre, big hotels, shops, the riverside, Egyptians who need to sell something to you and, as regards visits, Karnak and Louqsor temples and the museum,
West bank, with  El Gezira village and, as regards, visits, a number of sites : six "million year" or funeral temples, Kings' Valley with generally seven tombs open to visits, Queens' Valley with three tombs open, Nobles' tombs of which more than ten open, and the workmen's village of Deir-el-Medineh. But in West Bank  also are the Theban mountain, the desert edge, sugar cane or corn fields depending on the season, rural life and fellahs in the 21st century.

This site mostly covers West bank; why ? It is the place we best know, with many ancient sites; travelling on your own, you may wish to stay apart from hordes of tourists and to have contacts with a more authentic Egypt. Also, there your stay will be cheaper: rates for tourists are more reasonable, housings are more simple. We shall provide information on flats or houses to rent, which can be a good solution to stay with your family or friends.

The presentation addresses 7 topics :
safety including terrorist as well as daily life hazards, local travelling, hotels, flats and houses, reliable restaurants where you can eat with no risk of stomach bug, visits (we suggest a progressive, well-balanced programme), and finally some information on shopping and daily life so that you better understand the people with whom you will live for some days.

We wish you a pleasant stay. Should you think this information were useful to you, or were wrong, or should you wish to further comment or make suggestions, please contact us.
